  1. Technical Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance (AfCDC)

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

•    Master’s Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or related fields with a minimum of two (2) or five (5) years of relevant work experience respectively 
•    Experience in establishing and strengthening disease surveillance systems in MS including delivering trainings and developing surveillance indicators.
•    Demonstrable experience in supporting the implementation of public health programs with emphasis on IDS and epidemic intelligence
•    Demonstrable technical expertise and experience in the development of policies, processes, procedures and tools for disease surveillance.
•    Preferred experience in outbreak response and/or training in field epidemiology
•    Ability to engage effectively and diplomatically with external partners including national governments, donor institutions, inter-governmental agencies, other regional governance bodies, and academia.  
•    Demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge of operations of the Africa CDC, Regional Coordinating Centres and National Public Health Institutes is preferred.
•    Clear understanding of the health systems on the continent and fair knowledge of operations of the Ministries of health in Member States.
 

Required Skills

•    Excellent computer skills, including word-processing capabilities, proficiency with e-mail and internet applications, power-point and experience in using statistical, database, and analytic tools like R, ArcGIS, MS Word and Excel etc is desirable.
•    Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to convey key messages to a variety of audiences and serve as an advocate for the Programme’s activities
•    Proficiency in one of the AU working languages is required (English, French, Arabic, Kiswahili, Portuguese or Spanish). Fluency in English and knowledge of any additional language is an added advantage.

  • Administrative Assistant (AfCDC)

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

•    A minimum of Diploma in Secretarial Science, Office Management, or Management is required with three (3) years of relevant work experience.  
OR
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Secretarial Science or Office Management or related field with two (2) years’ relevant work experience. 
•    Work experience in administrative and/or secretarial work. 
•    Experience in Office Management is mandatory.

  • Senior Health Economist (AfCDC)

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

•    A Masters degree in health economics, economics, public health, health systems, health financing or other related technical discipline with seven (7) years experience 
OR
•    Bachelor degree with ten (10) years’ experience.
•    Higher qualification level, ie a PhD degree in these or other relevant fields will be an added advantage.
•    At least seven (7) years of experience for Masters holders and ten (10) years for Bachelor Degree holders), out of which three need to be at expert level, and at least four years at international level, in quantitative health economics research methods, including (but not limited to) economic evaluation, health technology assessments/priority setting, health financing, with experience working in one or more Member States. Experience working with policymakers will be an advantage.
•    Applicants must have in-depth knowledge about the health system of at least one or more of the African Union Member State(s) and relevant experience supplying and/or using health economics research (or similar) in support of decision making by relevant agencies/reimbursement bodies is desirable.
 

Required Skills

•    Proven ability to advance research projects independently while being accountable for the accuracy of outputs.
•    Ability to translate highly technical information into presentations, policy briefings, reports and funding proposals for a range of audiences.
•    Good writing skills, evidenced in peer review and other publications.
•    Ability to develop grant proposals.
•    Ability to work independently and interactively in a team setting, be motivated and responsible, have a great work capacity, and have commitment and enthusiasm for communication of research findings.

  • Senior Technical Officer, PHE Preparedness and IHR Capacity Development (AfCDC)

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

The Minimum academic requirements are:
    Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience with demonstrated involvement in the successful development and management of emergency preparedness programs,
OR
    Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with at least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in the above-mentioned related fields.
    At least three years out of total relevant work experience need to be at expert level.

Essential: 
•    At least 4 years of relevant experience, combined at the national and international levels in supporting implementation of public health emergency management programs and related activities 
•    Demonstrable experience and knowledge of operations of the Africa CDC and Regional Collaborating Centres.

Desirable: 
•    Previous experience working in Africa that reflects an in-depth knowledge of public health issues and public health workforce in general.
•    Understanding of the African Union’s way of working and managing associated relationships with Member States and partners is a valuable asset.
•    Experience with engagement and interaction with senior-level officials and other key stakeholders in both public and private-sector organizations.

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

•    A Masters university degree in Development studies, Public Health/Health Systems Management, International Relations, Strategic Management Public Policy or International Development or a related field is required
•    Twelve (12) years of relevant work experience with a minimum of seven (7) and five (5) years’ experience in a managerial and supervisory role (s) respectively. 
•    Proven track record of building partnerships and driving business growth, ability to identify potential partners, negotiate deals, and close partnerships that align with Africa CDC’s goals.
•    Experience in planning, managing offices, project management, programs and portfolios;
