 Africa’s high vulnerability to the impacts of climate change has been well established with the latest IPCC report echoing the clarion call for climate action now. Africa currently boasts a youth dividend; however, the youth have been underdeveloped with few opportunities available, and now the impacts of climate change compound these existing challenges. As such, many young Africans are taking action and striving to influence policies to help fight against climate change on the local and global levels. As the official constituency of the UNFCCC, YOUNGO has given the opportunity for young Africans to engage in the UNFCCC process with African youth being the second largest group in YOUNGO. Nevertheless, the participation of African youth when it comes to the annual Conference of Youth (COY) and Conference of Parties (COP) has not been proportional. This has mainly been due to limited financial support for African youth to travel for these conferences.

Hence, we are excited to be providing financial support to help African youth attend COP and contribute to a united voice and action. We wish you all the best and look forward to working with those who will be selected.

Eligibility:
– Must be a young person between 18 -35 years.
– Must be of African nationality.
– Must have knowledge and experience in climate change issues on the continent.

– Must be actively involved in climate change initiatives on the continent.

– Must have already secured a badge/accreditation.

Chère jeunesse africaine,

La mobilisation de la jeunesse africaine pour la COP [AYM4COP] une campagne de YOUNGO invite les personnes qui ont l’intention d’assister à la COP27 et qui ont besoin de financement pour remplir ce formulaire et avoir une chance d’être sélectionnées.

 La grande vulnérabilité de l’Afrique aux impacts du changement climatique a été bien établie avec le dernier rapport du GIEC faisant écho à l’appel du clairon pour l’action climatique maintenant. L’Afrique bénéficie actuellement d’un dividende jeunesse ; cependant, les jeunes ont été sous-développés avec peu d’opportunités disponibles, et maintenant les impacts du changement climatique aggravent ces défis existants. Ainsi, de nombreux jeunes Africains agissent et s’efforcent d’influencer les politiques pour aider à lutter contre le changement climatique aux niveaux local et mondial. En tant que groupe constitutif officiel de la CCNUCC, YOUNGO a donné la possibilité aux jeunes Africains de s’engager dans le processus de la CCNUCC, la jeunesse africaine étant le deuxième groupe le plus important de YOUNGO. Néanmoins, la participation de la jeunesse africaine en ce qui concerne la Conférence annuelle de la jeunesse (COY) et la Conférence des Parties (COP) n’a pas été proportionnelle. Cela est principalement dû au soutien financier limité accordé aux jeunes Africains pour se rendre à ces conférences.

Par conséquent, nous sommes ravis de fournir un soutien financier pour aider les jeunes Africains à participer à la COP et à contribuer à une voix et une action unies. Nous vous souhaitons bonne chance et nous nous réjouissons de travailler avec ceux qui seront sélectionnés.

Admissibilité:
– Doit être un jeune entre 18 et 35 ans.
– Doit être de nationalité africaine.
– Doit avoir des connaissances et une expérience dans les questions de changement climatique sur le continent.
– Doit être activement impliqué dans les initiatives sur le changement climatique sur le continent.

– Doit avoir déjà obtenu un badge/accréditation.
