U.S. BASED INTERNSHIPS

CRS’ internships offer opportunities to learn about international relief and development from sector experts. Interns work with our technical teams (health, agriculture, education, emergency response, etc.) as well as our core operations teams (human resources, finance, marketing, communications, logistics, and information technology). CRS welcomes interns to work from remote locations in the U.S.

Internships at CRS HQ are diverse in scope and nature. Some recent interns have applied and expanded their skills by:

  • Supporting advocacy work in Washington, D.C.
  • Collecting and analyzing data with the Agriculture/Livelihoods team
  • Developing anti-trafficking communications
  • Tracking the impact of COVID-19 on global markets and supply chains

The Youth Team is situated within the Equity, Inclusion and Peacebuilding (EQUIP) unit, which is part of CRS’ Integrated Program Quality (IPQ) team and the multisector technical department of Program Impact and Quality Assurance (PIQA). This position will help the Youth team contribute to CRS’ strategy, “Vision 2030,” especially Goal Area 5: Empowering youth to thrive. Vision 2030 comprises six strategic change platforms (SCPs):

1) Integrating social cohesion and social justice across the platforms;

2) responding to emergencies and providing shelter;

3) promoting flourishing landscapes and livelihoods;

4) fighting malaria and improving health;

5) protecting families and children; and

6) scaling youth livelihoods and leadership. The Intern will work with members of the Youth team and EQUIP to accomplish their strategy and programming goals.

As part of Vision 2030, CRS aims to scale youth livelihoods and leadership for youth aged 15-29 in developing countries. The vision is to transform the employment and entrepreneurship systems to foster an enabling environment where millions of Opportunity Youth have agency and sustained livelihoods. CRS will accomplish this through a two-pronged approach of ensuring impactful youth programming and scaling evidence-base models and approaches to shift employment and entrepreneurship systems.

  • Research current trends, funding, key actors and opportunities in the youth space.
  • Conduct an analysis of scale initiatives in the youth space to document evidence and promising practice.
  • Support learning and evidence gathering by country programs.
  • Support the Youth Community of Practice as well as International Youth Day global events.

QUALIFICATIONS for Breaking news ! Hone your skills with USA Based Internships at CRS

Qualifications: Breaking news ! Hone your skills with USA Based Internships at CRS

  • Master degree candidate in international development, international relations, public policy, political science, economics, sociology, social work, anthropology, peacebuilding or related field (recent graduate or 2nd year candidate graduating in 2024 preferred);
  • Recent experience with CRS structures and systems strongly desired.

  • Experience working on projects in developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East regions
  • Strong familiarity with international development programming and policy processes
  • Strong experience in research and analysis

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English required and proficiency in French preferred
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
