The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking interns for the Sydney office. Ideally, interns will be available for three months beginning in mid-September 2023 through mid-December 2023 (dates and schedule are flexible) with the possibility to extend.

Human Rights Watch Development & Outreach Internship 2023
Responsibilities
Interns will primarily contribute to outreach and development initiatives, using database tasks, monitoring press coverage, planning events, using social media to promote events, and conducting background desk research. Other projects may be assigned as they arise and when they match the intern’s interests.
Qualifications
- Interns must be currently enrolled students for the duration of the internship.
- This position is best suited for individuals interested in interning in a large, well-organized, international non-profit organization.
- Applicants should be well-organized, self-motivated and reliable with a strong interest in international human rights.
- Experience with media, social media, government relations, event planning, and Sales Force is beneficial. Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) are strongly preferred.
- Applicants must possess valid work authorization in Australia for the duration of their internship.
Compensation for the Human Rights Watch Development & Outreach Internship 2023
Interns will be reimbursed up to $15 per day they are in the office for lunch and up to $20 per day they are in the office for transportation. Students are often able to arrange academic credit, as HRW internships may offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by the HRW staff, and interaction with other international organizations and foreign and domestic government officials. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.
