The YD is a project organisation operating worldwide in providing training and consultancy in relation to negotiation and diplomacy. The Young Diplomat is a young and growing organisation, founded in 2018. International negotiation is a corner stone of foreign policy and affairs. The field of international politics, European affairs and public institutions can be complex. Especially where business and public governance come together. Our experts work in the field of public and private negotiations, specifically where these meet each other. The Young Diplomat provides training and consultancy in preparing, strategising and carrying out negotiations as well as implementation and follow up of agreements. Our mission is to ensure you can achieve your goals through a smooth negotiation process where all parties benefit.

​You will:

​​

  • be responsible, together with a project manager, for the implementation of the MENA Diplomats program (introducing diplomats to the Netherlands), the summer school of 2023 on diversity and inclusion, and other small scale projects;
  • be supportive to the organisation in any new project applications and acquisition;
  • support the project managers and organisation in drafting reports for the projects;
  • help develop and design new training programs or further develop existing ones;
  • support the development of the presence and out reach of the Young Diplomat on social media and other media channels;
  • support the team in any day to day affairs that might be necessary.

We seek:

​​

  • somebody who lives in or around The Hague;
  • somebody who is not on holiday, and thus available, between the 20th and 30th of August for our summer school;
  • a junior, senior, or graduate student currently enrolled in an educational program (any type of program is welcomed);
  • an interest in Project Management;
  • prior work experience in coordinating or managing projects is preferred;
  • have an academic level of written and verbal communication skills;
  • strong interpersonal skills to actively listen, communicate in ways that foster trust and show flexibility;
  • team spirit and the ability to work with a group of diverse people, provide recognition and reward;
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment under deadline pressures;
  • ability to manage own workload independently, multi-task, and prioritise effectively;
  • demonstrate leadership, diplomacy, and motivational skills;
  • solid organisational skills including attention to detail, research, and multitasking skills;
  • high computer literacy;
  • perform other project management related task and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
